The Great Britain squad for the opening round of the World Cup series in Glasgow will be very similar to the squad selected to rid this week’s European championships in Paris.
Katie Archibald, Steven Burke and Andy Tennant will add experience to the predominantly Under 23 line up at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Four of the GB senior academy endurance squad will compete under the Team Breeze banner.
Head coach Iain Dyer told the British Cycling website “It’s predominantly a development team, with the exception of Katie, Steve and Andy Tennant, which is to be expected at this stage of the Olympic cycle. These young riders have been presented with a great opportunity to step up and compete at world cup level and, thanks to Team Breeze, we are able to enter an extra four female senior academy riders into this event.
“The Great Britain Cycling Team’s track squad is fortunate to be able to compete at major events on home soil on a fairly regular basis and it’s something which we’re all very grateful for. It is always an enjoyable experience and I know this team of young riders are looking forward to racing with the support of a home crowd behind them.”
