All the signs were that we were going to witness another Laura Trott whitewash as she dominated the openng Points Race – lapping the field – apparently at will – to take a comfortable win. GB team-mate Emily Nelson – who picked up a couple of medals in last weekend’s Track World Cup in Hong Kong – came closest with 33 points, but that was almost 40 behind Trott’s 71. Malgorzata Wojtyra of Poland trailed home in third with 13 points.

Nelson went one better in the Elimination Scratch Race, outsprinting her illustrious team-mate to take the win with Manon Lloyd taking third place.

And it came down to Nelson and Trott in the final sprint at the end of the Elimination Race, too –  with Wojtyra again taking third place. This time, though, it was Trott that came out on top.

And, as if to emphasize the point, Trott lapped the field in the Scratch Race, allowing her to sit in and watch the bunch sprint. Behind her, Rebecca Raybould was off the front – with Nelson in hot pursuit – and had a comfortable lead on the field as she came home to take second place.
