Half term week plus BC Youth Omniums reduced the numbers this week but there were some good performances by a number of riders.
Top spot went to Sam Gilzean in the Group B Odds and Evens Block Pursuit. Both groups had split apart in the first 5 laps and the Odds were down to just three riders then two and finally just Sam Gilzean. He made up a deficit in the last two laps to be on terms and crossed the line about a bike length from the opposing team across the track. He then went on the break away with clubmate Colin Hodges in the Points race for his second win of the evening.
The senior A group which in the past 4 weeks has produced amazing pace and attacking riding were more lethargic this week. The group of 4 riders in the 10 lap Hare and Hounds were never caught and took all the finishing points with a well drilled performance. John McClelland won the opening 10 lap scratch and the Devil. The closing 10 mile saw a few breakaways which were all reeled in and the final lap saw four riders open up a lead and were led in by John McClelland and the two Welwyn riders Mark Smith, Tom Gallacher and Finchley”s Trevor Burke
The Under 14 and Under 16 groups were combined for most of the evening due to reduced numbers but the Under 8/Under 10/Under 12 group were lively and had some close fought handicap races with Will Raymond and newcomer Matt Ellis scoring well.
